Hi, i'm Emma!

I’m an experienced Specialist Teacher Assessor supporting individuals with a wide range of specific learning difficulties (SpLDs). I’ve worked in this field for over a decade and established my independent practice in 2017. Since then, I’ve carried out more than 200 in-depth assessments for children, young people, and adults, helping each one better understand their learning profile and access the support they need to thrive.

I believe every learner deserves to be understood. My goal is to make the assessment process a positive, empowering experience, with clear recommendations that lead to meaningful change — in school, at home, in further study, or in the workplace.

I work with individuals across a range of organisations, including education, local authorities, the NHS, and private clients. My approach is flexible, collaborative, and always tailored to the individual — whether I’m assessing a child in school, supporting a student applying for exam arrangements, or helping an adult access workplace adjustments. I offer full diagnostic assessments for dyslexia and dyscalculia, alongside screening for ADHD and Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) in adults. I also support individuals with processing and memory difficulties, and those whose learning profiles may co-occur with traits of autism. While I do not diagnose autism, I have extensive experience working with autistic individuals and adapt my assessments/tuition accordingly to reduce anxiety and ensure a respectful, neurodivergent-friendly process. My services also include assessments for Exam Access Arrangements, and I provide specialist 1:1 tuition and mentoring for learners with SpLDs.

A NOTE ABOUT OUR NAME

You may have previously known my service under the name Dyslexia Bedfordshire.  As my experience, qualifications, and the range of support I offer have grown over time — including further specialist training and recognition — I felt it was the right moment to reflect that progress with a fresh name: The SpLD Hub

While the name has changed, the values remain the same: warm, knowledgeable support that places each individual at the centre. If you’ve worked with me in the past, rest assured you’re in familiar hands.

Why choose me?

Choosing the right assessor isn’t just about cost — it’s about quality, compliance, and confidence. Here’s what sets this service apart:

Qualified & Compliant

All assessments are conducted by a specialist with a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC). Reports meet all relevant standards: SASC (SpLD Assessment Standards Committee), JCQ (Exam Access Arrangements), Access to Work, and ASA (Adult Services Assessments).

Flexible Delivery

Assessments and consultations can be conducted either face-to-face (LU3 4EZ) or securely online — offering flexibility to suit your needs.

Detailed, Person-Centred Reports

Reports go beyond basic scoring. They are strengths-based, tailored, and include clear, practical recommendations for education, the workplace, or higher education.

Transparent Options — No Hidden Fees

Optional add-ons like ADHD/DCD screening or follow-up consultations are clearly priced. If the background info suggests numeracy difficulties, a numeracy assessment is included within the Dyslexia process at no extra charge.

Collaborative & Ongoing Support

I liaise (with consent) with schools, colleges, and employers to help implement support recommendations, and offer optional follow-up guidance post-assessment.

Fair & Ethical Pricing

Transparent pricing reflects the quality and depth of service, with manual payment plans available to avoid unnecessary processing fees.
