SUPPORTING
University
Starting or continuing university or postgraduate study is an exciting step — but it can also be demanding, especially when managing a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia, ADHD, or processing differences. Whether you’re adjusting to the independence of undergraduate life or juggling the complex demands of professional or doctoral-level study, it’s normal to feel stretched.
I offer tailored support designed specifically for higher education, including screening, diagnostic assessments, tuition, and mentoring. Support focuses on building effective strategies for studying, organising information, managing time, and developing confidence in how you learn — all adapted to your level of study.
Sessions are available online or in person (where possible) and can help with preparing for or evidencing eligibility for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA). Whether you’re navigating lectures, research, placements, or final projects, I’ll work with you to create a support plan that fits your needs and goals.

What I offer
Diagnostic Assessments
I offer formal diagnostic assessments for dyslexia and dyscalculia (please note: dyscalculia assessments are face-to-face only), along with screeners for ADHD and Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD). Each report is fully tailored to your individual profile and meets the requirements for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) and university support services.
Study Skills Support
Whether it's time management, note-taking, essay writing, or exam preparation, I deliver tailored tuition designed to build your academic confidence and success.
Mentoring & Coaching
Balancing university life and studies can be challenging. My mentoring sessions focus on boosting your organisation, confidence and coping strategies.
Assistive Technology Advice
I'm happy to advise on the assistive technology tools best suited to your learning style, helping you study more effectively and comfortably.
Direct Sourcing for DSA Support
(NMH Study Skills)
How Does Direct Sourcing for DSA Support Work? As a specialist registered with the Department for Education (DfE) for Neurodiversity and Mental Health (NMH) Provision under the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) scheme, I can be directly sourced by eligible students for assessment, tuition, mentoring, and other support services. Here’s how it works: 1.Apply for DSA First, you need to apply for Disabled Students’ Allowance through your university’s funding body. Learn more about applying for DSA. 2.Needs Assessment After your DSA application is approved, you’ll have a needs assessment to identify the support you require. 3.Select Your Provider Once your DSA allocation is confirmed, you can choose me as your registered NMH provider to deliver specialist assessments, tuition, mentoring, or assistive technology support. 4.Direct Payment The government will arrange payment directly to me for the approved services, making it easier for you to access the support you need without upfront costs. If you have any questions about this process or how I can help, please contact me. I’m happy to guide you through the next steps.
Finding Study More Challenging Than Expected?
The Traits Questionnaire is a short, self-reflective tool designed to help you consider whether your experiences might relate to a specific learning difficulty, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, or processing differences. It’s not a diagnostic test, but it can highlight patterns that suggest further support or assessment may be worthwhile.
This tool is especially helpful if you’re finding that no amount of effort seems to make studying easier — or if you’ve been advised to explore Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) and need clarity on your learning profile.
There are no right or wrong answers. Just honest reflections that can guide your next steps — whether that’s a diagnostic assessment, NMH support, or a conversation with your university’s disability team.

What to Expect from a Diagnositic Assessment
Assessments and tuition can take place online or face-to-face (in my dedicated home office or by arrangement).
Sessions are flexible and person-centred, with clear communication and progress tracking.
Universities, colleges, or families can make a referral — or you’re very welcome to get in touch directly if you’d prefer to arrange support yourself. If you're a postgraduate student, you can self-refer, or your university support team or supervisor can do so on your behalf — whatever works best for your situation.

Initial contact
You can either book an assessment directly online or get in touch for an informal chat to discuss your concerns and what you’re hoping to achieve.
Gathering background information
Before the assessment, I’ll ask you to complete a questionnaire about your academic development, strengths, and challenges. You may also request a similar questionnaire to be completed by your college, university department, or academic advisor. If you work with private tutors or mentors, it may also be helpful to gather a summary of strengths and difficulties from them as well. This collaborative approach ensures a comprehensive understanding of your needs.
The assessment session
Assessments are conducted in a calm, supportive environment, either in person or online, depending on what works best for you. The session length varies but typically lasts around 2 hours (slightly longer if it’s a combined assessment). Breaks and activities are incorporated to help you stay comfortable and focused throughout the session.
Detailed report
After the assessment, you’ll receive a clear, easy-to-understand written report outlining your learning profile, strengths, and areas of difficulty. The report will include practical recommendations for your studies, support strategies, and any exam access arrangements.
Follow-up and support
I’ll explain the assessment results in detail, address any questions you may have, and provide guidance on the next steps. With your consent, I can liaise with your university department or other relevant professionals, and offer tailored academic support or mentoring as needed.

A Friendly Start
We’ll begin with a relaxed conversation to explore your needs, strengths, and what’s been tried before. This might follow an assessment, or you may simply feel that you’d benefit from some extra support during your studies.
A Personalised Plan
Together, we’ll develop a personalised support plan based on your academic and personal goals — whether that involves targeted help with academic writing, reading strategies, numeracy, or mentoring to build effective study habits, confidence, and greater independence in your learning.
Flexible Sessions
Sessions are available online or in person (where possible), and are scheduled to fit around your university timetable and other commitments. I aim to create a positive, encouraging space where you can develop skills and confidence at your own pace.
Ongoing Feedback
I’ll keep you informed about your progress and adapt the approach as needed. Open, clear communication is central to the way I work — so you’ll always know what we’re focusing on and why it matters.
Encouraging Growth
Above all, my aim is to help you feel more confident and capable, not only in your academic work, but in yourself.

Shared Experiences

"I was really happy with the feedback I received to help aid my everyday life as a university student. It meant I could learn in a way which suited my skillset, as well as managing burnout.
I have been able to be more confident in having dyslexia and have the confidence to ask line managers (as I have since graduated) for support and document tasks in a more written manner as well as regular check-ins as I am prone to forgetting smaller details."

“Very professional throughout. Clear and quick communication and very caring during the assessment itself.
The assessment really helped me understand why certain things had been so difficult and gave me practical ways to work around them. I feel more confident now and less stressed about studying. It was a really supportive experience, and I finally feel like I’m getting the right kind of help.”
Ready When You Are!
Every student deserves support that’s genuinely aligned with their individual learning needs. Whether you’re just starting to explore assessment or tuition options, or you’re ready to take the next step, I’m here to guide you with clarity and respect.
You can book assessments directly online, or feel free to get in touch for an informal chat about tuition or mentoring. No pressure — just support when you need it.
