SUPPORTING

ADULTS

If you're an adult who has always found certain aspects of learning more difficult — reading, spelling, maths, organisation, focus — you may have wondered whether something like dyslexia, dyscalculia, or ADHD could be part of the picture.

Or perhaps you've already received a diagnosis, but you want a clearer understanding of how it affects you in day-to-day life — in education, at work, or in everyday tasks.

I offer supportive, person-centred assessments for adults of all ages. My goal is to help you understand your unique learning profile, access the right support, and build confidence in how you learn, work, and communicate.

Assessments are relaxed, respectful, and tailored to your needs — whether you’re applying for university support, seeking workplace adjustments, or simply looking for clarity and validation.

What I Offer for Adults

I work with adults across a wide range of circumstances — including university students, professionals in the workplace, adult learners, and individuals simply seeking clarity and understanding.

Full Diagnostic Assessments

For dyslexia and dyscalculia, following SASC guidelines. These in-depth assessments explore strengths and difficulties across areas like reading, spelling, memory, and processing speed. You’ll receive a clear written report that can be used to access support in education or employment.

Screening for Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, ADHD and  DCD

For dyslexia and dyscalculia, I offer focused screening tools designed to help determine whether a full diagnostic assessment would be beneficial. These screeners are a helpful first step to identify potential areas of difficulty and guide your next steps.

Support for Co-occurring Needs

Many adults I work with also experience autistic traits, anxiety, or processing differences that may not have been recognised in school. My assessments are neurodivergent-aware and always adapted to make the process as low-stress and validating as possible.

Exam Access Arrangements (EAA)

If you’re studying or sitting professional exams, I can carry out assessments for access arrangements, including extra time and the use of assistive technology. I provide the required evidence in a professional report for your education provider.

Specialist Tuition and Mentoring

Some adults benefit from targeted support after their assessment. I offer 1:1 tuition in areas such as study skills, spelling and organisation, or mentoring to support confidence and self-advocacy.

Support for Workplace Adjustments

I help individuals, and their employers, understand how learning differences may affect work. My reports can contribute to Access to Work applications or inform reasonable adjustments in your role.

Not Sure if an assessment if the right next step?

The Traits Questionnaire is a short, reflective tool designed to help you explore common traits linked to specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, or ADHD. It’s not a diagnostic test, but it can highlight patterns that may be worth looking into further.

Many adults complete this quiz if they’ve always found reading, writing, memory, or focus harder than others — or if they're returning to education, navigating workplace demands, or simply curious about how they learn best.

Your responses can help you decide whether to pursue a full diagnostic assessment and can also support conversations with employers or training providers about the kind of adjustments that may be helpful.

Note: Your results are private and non-judgemental — it’s just a helpful first step.

I understand that deciding to have an assessment as an adult can feel like a big step, especially if past experiences in education or work haven’t always been positive. My aim is to make the process clear, respectful, and free from pressure.

Getting started
You’re welcome to either book an assessment directly online or get in touch for an informal chat first — whatever feels more comfortable for you. There’s no pressure and no obligation; I’m happy to answer any questions and help you decide what’s right for your needs.

Background information
You’ll be asked to complete a background questionnaire, and we may review any relevant documents (e.g. past reports, education history, workplace challenges).

Assessment appointment
The assessment takes place in a quiet, supportive setting and can be adapted to your pace. It usually lasts approximately 2 hours (slightly longer if a combined assessment), depending on the type of assessment. I’ll explain everything clearly as we go and take breaks if needed.

Your report
You’ll receive a detailed written report with results, clear explanations, and personalised recommendations — whether for university, work, or everyday life. It can also be used to support applications (e.g. DSA, Access to Work).

Next steps
I’ll talk you through the findings and answer any questions. If helpful, I can also liaise with other professionals or organisations (with your consent) to support any further action.

Shared Experiences

Young Businesswoman

I have always had a negative experience with maths but needed to gain a functional skills qualification to access the next stage of my training.

Dyslexia Beds was great at explaining and using physical objects to help me to understand before we worked on practice questions.

Portrait with Apron

After years and years of embarrassment and with the prompt from a TV programme about dysleixa.  I decided to look into the possibility that I may be dyslexic.

I was apprehensive of the test process as my reading and spelling is not at a level you would expect from someone of my age.  Emma made the whole process so relaxed and explained every step, before, during and after the assessment.

I am now able to understand why some things have been difficult over the years and am working with Emma to improve my reading.

She's a treasure.

Being an adult returning to study (with dyslexia) was daunting, but with Emma's patience, encouragement, and ability to break things down clearly, I feel more able to deal with the demands of my course. Her support has helped me build confidence, develop useful strategies, and feel more in control of my learning.
